Over three hundred thousand naira worth of improved vitamin “C” cassava stems have be disbursed to farmers in Nnewi South Council Area at no cost. Also provided for farmers in the council area are bags of MPK fertilizers at a very subsidized rate. The farmers in Nnewi South Council Area, who gathered at the council headquarters in Ukpor,were thrown into jubilation as a lorry loaded with improved vitamin “C” cassava stems and subsidized MPK fertilizer arrived the council. Addressing the farmers , the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, said the gesture is in fulfillment of Governor Willie Obiano’s promise of assisting farmers with improved farm inputs aimed at fighting hunger and poverty in line with the Sustainable Development Goals Initiative. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnacheta, Chairman Board of Directors of the ABS , Mr. Nnaemeka Maduegbuna and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Nze Uche Nworah said Governor Obiano invited Ndi Anambra to the ceremony which will commence by eleven o’ clock in the morning at the ABS Corporate Headquarters near Aroma Junction , Awka.
