Bomb explodes in mosque, kills 270 worshippers in Egypt

A shockwave swept through Egypt in the afternoon of Friday, November 24, The aftermath of the bomb blast which occurred in a mosque sent at least 235 people to death - Egypt has been at the center of terror attacks in recent years The attack, one of the deadliest to be witnessed in the country, was reportedly carried out by a suic*de bomber while a set of militants were said to have opened fire at a mosque in the country’s restive northern Sinai province The report quoted sources as saying the attack actually targeted supporters of the security forces attending prayers at the scene. It was carried out with four off-road vehicles which arrived at Al Rawdah mosque in Bir al-Abed, near Arish city while the sermon was ongoing. Those who tried to escape were gunned down. Man allegedly stabs attendant for stopping him from smoking in filling station

An unemployed man, Bala Lawal, who allegedly stabbed an attendant for stopping him from smoking in a petrol station, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. Twenty-three-year -old Lawal, who resides at Lawal Street, Mangoro, Agege, Lagos, is standing trial for assault. The prosecutor, Sgt. Mike Unah, told the court that the accused stabbed Mr Godwin Okonta on Nov. 8 at Aguda, Ogba in Lagos, after smoking marijuana. Unah said that Okonta told Lawal to move away from the filling station while he was smoking, and that the accused later came back and stabbed him on the head with a knife. Unah said that witnesses consequently apprehended the accused. He noted that the offence contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Gbajumo, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum. Gbajumo adjourned the case until Dec. 4 for mention.

FRSC warns commercial drivers against night journeys during ember months

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Friday warned drivers, especially commercial drivers, against night journeys due to its grievous consequences, if anything goes wrong. The FRSC Commander for Ozalla Unit Command in Enugu State, Mr Austin Ekele, gave the advice while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu. Ekele was speaking on the sidelines of the “Ember months’ rush,’’ during which most commercial bus drivers used to exploit, to make more money. He noted that when a vehicle develops a fault or an accident occurs, it would be difficult to get immediate help to rescue the situation, unlike the quick response that could be available during the day time. The unit commander emphasised that there should be no compromise on the use of quality tyres, saying that the lifespan of any tyre was four years, whether in use or not. “So, drivers, especially commercial drivers, should assist us by ensuring that they buy genuine and usable tyres,...
