All Nigerian leaders from 1999 accidental – Na’Abba

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba has said that Nigeria has been having accidental leaders since the commencement of the Fourth Republic in 1999. Na’Abba who served as Speaker of lower legislative chamber from 1999 to 2003, called on more Nigerians to participate in politics with a view to opening up the political space.  He stated this in Abuja at the 2016/2017 Matriculation and Fellowship Endowment Ceremony of the National Institute for Legislative Studies (NILS)/University of Benin Postgraduate Programme.  He expressed regret that leadership recruitment process in the country has been hijacked by a few politicians. Female Kogi poly student kidnapped

— 17th October 2017 An HND 2 student of the Kogi State Polytechnic, identified as Miss Adebanjo Adetutu has been kidnapped. Adetutu , a student from the Department of Management was kidnapped along Abuja-Okene highway close to Itakpe community.Within the last one week not fewer than 10 people had been kidnapped in the state.Miss Adetutu was returning to her home town in Ogun State after the first semester exams when she was abducted.The abductors had earlier demanded for a ransom of N10 million over the weekend and on Monday afternoon reduced it to N500,000. Her kidnap was coming few days when three chieftains of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance party , Kogi State chapter were kidnapped along Idah Road . Crocodile Smile II: We won’t vaccinate people, says Army

— 14th October, 2017 The Nigerian Army has said that the military exercise, Operation Crocodile Smile II is to increase the operations of the Nigerian Army in the Niger Delta region. The Army also reacted to the report of a vaccination which caused pandemonium in Yenagoa. The Brigade Commander, 16 Brigade, Brig- Gen Kevin Aligbe who said the operation was to increase the rhythm and mileage of the army in the Niger Delta maintained that there was no need for the people to panic. Aligbe spoke Saturday during the environmental exercise by the 16 Brigade as part of the activities for the period of the operation and said the Army would maintain professionalism during the exercise. “Operation crocodile smile II is intended to increase the rhythm of our combat operations in the creeks and land based activities. Monkey Pox: 2 injured as panic withdrawal hits Bayelsa, Edo schools over immunisation vaccine

  Two pupils were yesterday injured during a pandemonium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, over stories of suspicious Monkey Pox vaccination exercise of school pupils. The stories triggered panic withdrawal as parents and guardians rushed to the schools to pick their children and wards. There was also pandemonium in most schools in Benin City yesterday following rumours and speculations in the social media that men of the Nigerian Army were immunising school children with monkey pox vaccines. The Bayelsa State government had announced the immediate suspension of all vaccination exercise and closure of both private and public schools to avoid stampede and disappearance of children from the school premises. But, the Edo State Government called on residents to disregard rumours making the rounds that the disease has spread to the state.
